AgIC - Printing circuit boards with home printers

I had a chance to play with AgIC, a printer to print circuit boards recently.

I already wrote about Instant Inkjet Circuits in the past, it has been productized and is currently on Kickstarter as "AgIC". You can turn a home inkjet printer into a circuit-board maker!

This is their video.

Plugging in other materials.

This is super cool! Excellent for prototyping.

We were also able to play with this AgIC pen, that you can handwrite circuits.

You can write what ever you want, make sure it is connected.

Place LED somewhere in the middle, put a battery on one end and fold the paper to connect the other end to the battery.

And the LED lights up!

You can print your business card with AgIC printer, and stick this in your computer's USB port for power, and if you put LED on the circuit the LED actually lights up. I should be making my business cards with AgIC too ;)

Connecting with Makey Makey, you can make a whole bunch of applications :)

FAQ:

Q: How long does it last?
A: Not sure since the company is new, but basically those circuit boards are for prototyping.

Q: How long does the ink take to dry?
A: It was several seconds so it's super fast.

Q: Can we import data from Eagle?
A: Yes of course!

Q: How does the inks look?
A: This is the actual ink that we are using for our printer!

Thanks to Shinya Shimizu and Yuki Nishida for visiting our Garage for the demo!
