IOT + Mobile Hackathon

I joined IOT + Mobile Hackathon in April.

I joined team "Tay Tay Button" - a team that brought this IOT-enabled button, and they wanted to connect it with various things over the Internet.





Inside the button looks like this:

Each button was talking with the back end server that is connected with PubNub, and they connected PubNub to Arduino ESP 8266.



Following are the 7 apps (outputs) built during the hackathon:

1. "Shake It Off app" which plays music
2. "Pizza app" which sends text to a phone to order a pizza
3. "Dear mom app" sends a phone message to mother using Sinch's text to speech function
4. "Rickroll app" which plays Never Gonna Let You Out and Rickroll the audience
5. "Gong app" which bangs the gong
6. "Let's go it in app" which starts the mirror ball
7. "Selfie app" a Phonegap app to shoot a selfie with Android phone



Frontend is an app store of all those apps that works with all of the buttons.





The team won "PubNub Commercially Viable Award" yay :)



Other stuff I was doing that day:

Installed Tessel, connected Tessel and made it blink, connected to ambient module and got light sensor data and sound sensor data.



Installed PubNub, tried to connect from Tessel to PubNub and had a lot of issues...

Tried out the "10 Chat (10 line chat app)" sample app of PubNub, made the Japanese version ;)
